Explanation
BACKGROUND: This ordinance authorizes the Board of Health to accept and appropriate $9,000.00 in grant funds from the Ohio Commission on Minority Health for the 2025-2026 Minority Health Month grant program, for the period of September 19, 2025 through June 30, 2026. The purpose of this grant is to provide funding for billboard advertisements, health screenings, and additional activities occurring at Minority Health Month events to help increase minority health awareness in Columbus communities.
Emergency action is requested to allow planning and expenditures for future events to begin as soon as possible given the grant start date of September 19, 2025.
FISCAL IMPACT: The Minority Health Month grant program is fully funded by the Ohio Commission on Minority Health. This program does not generate revenue and does not require a City match. ($9,000.00)

To authorize and direct the Board of Health to accept funds from the Ohio Commission on Minority Health and any additional funds for 2025-2026 Minority Health Month Grant; to authorize the appropriation of funds from the unappropriated balance of the Health Department Grants Fund, to authorize the City Auditor to transfer appropriations between object classes for the 2025-2026 Minority Health Month Grant; and to declare an emergency. WHEREAS, $9,000.00 in funds have been awarded to Columbus Public Health from the Ohio Commission on Minority Health for the 2025-2026 Minority Health Month grant program for the period of September 19, 2025 through June 30, 2026; and,
