To honor and recognize the Hon. Tom Kaplin for his more than nine years of service on the Columbus Recreation and Parks Commission, and to thank him for his many years of service to our community.
 
Body
 
WHEREAS, the Hon. Tom Kaplin is a successful businessman and admired public servant who has contributed much to the quality of life in our community; and
 
WHEREAS, Mr. Kaplin completed his bachelor's degree in business administration at The Ohio State University and later earned a bachelor of law at Franklin University; and
 
WHEREAS, Mr. Kaplin was the president and chief executive officer of the Columbus Outdoor Advertising Company from 1953 to 1980, and has served in those roles with Warehouse Services since 1957; and
 
WHEREAS, Mr. Kaplin's service the community has been extensive and varied; he has served as president of the Columbus Urban League, vice president of the Columbus Jewish Center, and on the boards of the Columbus Red Cross, Ohio Health, Grant Medical Center, Riverside Hospital, Doctors Hospital, the Greater Columbus Arts Council, and Southside Settlement House; and
 
WHEREAS, in addition to his distinguished service on the Recreation and Parks Commission - where he served two terms as president - Mr. Kaplin has served as a member of Columbus City Council and as an Ohio Elections Commissioner; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
 
That this Council does hereby honor and recognize the Hon. Tom Kaplin for his more than nine years of service on the Columbus Recreation and Parks Commission, and thanks him for his many years of service to our community.
