To Recognize the Week of October 6th through 10th 2025 as Digital Inclusion Week in the City of Columbus

 

Body

 

WHEREAS, Digital Inclusion Week is an annual nationwide event dedicated to raising awareness about digital equity and the vital importance of inclusion in our increasingly digital world; and

 

WHEREAS, this week-long event celebrates the progress made toward digital equity while also inspiring further action for a more inclusive digital future; and

 

WHEREAS, the Connect Us Coalition is a group of community organizations here in Franklin County, working together to spread awareness about and improve digital equity; and

 

WHEREAS, ten percent of Franklin County households have Internet access only through a cellular plan; and

 

WHEREAS, with support from the Connect Us Coalition, the City of Columbus aims to close the digital divide through a series of interventions and programs for our low-income households, seniors and other diverse populations; and

 

WHEREAS, Digital Inclusion Week is an opportunity to help raise awareness of the challenges that exist for households without Internet access, and to promote proven strategies to help reduce roadblocks to digital inclusion; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this Council does hereby recognize October 6th through 10th 2025 as Digital Inclusion week in the city of Columbus and supports efforts to improve digital equity and Internet access.
