Explanation
BACKGROUND: Need: This legislation authorizes modifying the contract for professional engineering services with Dynotec, Inc. for one project which is part of the Group 11 Roadside Stormwater System Improvements Projects. The project is McDannald Estates Stormwater System Improvements Project.
This modification is requested to allow payment for additional engineering services that are beyond the original contract scope. These items include engineering services associated with the construction of additional storm sewers in the project area.
Contract Compliance No.: 31-1319961
Emergency Designation: Emergency designation is requested for this ordinance so that this additional work can be incorporated into the project plans without delaying project schedules.
FISCAL IMPACT
Budgeted Amount. There are funds and sufficient spending authority available for this expenditure pending passage of a transfer/CIB amendment ordinance.
Contract Modification Information Pursuant to Section 329.13C.C.C.:
Amount of Additional Funds - This Modification: $17,851.08.
Why the Need for Additional Work Could Not Be Foreseen: The scope of this project has been expanded to extend storm sewer services into areas identified during a project public meeting after the original scope was prepared.
Why Other Procurement Processes Would Not Be In the City's Best Interest: This additional work is a direct, logical extension of the work included in the contract, and it is not deemed either feasible or reasonable to suspend work with the entity currently under contract and undertake continuation of the work under a new procurement.
How the Cost of the Modification Was Determined: Price quotes for the additional engineering services under this modification were requested by the Division, prepared by the design engineer, and were subsequently reviewed and revised by Division Stormwater Engineering Staff and deemed to be appropriate.
