Explanation

BACKGROUND: The Columbus Health Department has been awarded a grant from The Columbus Medical Association Foundation. This ordinance is needed to accept and appropriate $3,500.00 in grant money to fund the Ohio Avenue School grant program.

The Ohio Avenue School program will conduct health related educational activities at the Ohio Avenue School. It will also assist in nutrition education of parents of the students.


This grant is for the period February 1, 2006 through December 31, 2006.

Emergency action is requested to allow the financial transaction to be posted in the City's accounting system as soon as possible. Up to date financial posting promotes accurate accounting and financial management.


FISCAL IMPACT: This program is entirely funded by The Columbus Medical Association Foundation and does not generate revenue or require a City match.

WHEREAS, $3,500 in grant funds have been made available through The Columbus Medical Association Foundation for the Ohio Avenue School grant program; and,

WHEREAS, this ordinance is submitted as an emergency so as to allow the financial transaction to be posted in the City's accounting system as soon as possible. Up to date financial posting promotes accurate accounting and financial management; and,

WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Columbus Health Department in that it is immediately necessary to accept this grant from The Columbus Medical Association Foundation and to appropriate these funds to the Health Department for the immediate preservation of the public health, peace, property, safety, and welfare; Now, theref...
