Columbus City Council extends sincere condolences to the family and friends of Roberta Booth on this sorrowful occasion of her passing

Body
Mrs. Roberta Booth was a committed wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many. She took pride in everything she did.

Mrs. Booth was a neighborhood activist that led her South side neighborhood in a fight against the corporate giant Georgia-Pacific, ultimately winning $22 million settlement. In October 2001 the Southside community won an out of court settlement again thanks to the efforts of Mrs. Booth.

Mrs. Booth was the president of the PTA at Clarfield Elementary School. She pressured Downtown officials to install new window and a water line for the school, which drew its water from wells. In December, Mrs. Booth was appointed one of the thirteen members of the Columbus Public School panel to oversee a $500 million project to replace or renovate 38 schools.

In her last months, she helped raise $4,000 to help Clairfield students go on a field trip to Chicago. Mrs. Booth will be sorely missed for her vitality and commitment to her family and community.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:

That this Council does hereby pay tribute to the memory of a truly honorable woman Roberta Booth.
