Body

Columbus City Council extends its sincere condolences to the family and friends of William "Bill" Sanders on the occasion of his passing April 27, 2007. Born August 16, 1926, Bill served his country and community with dignity and grace. A veteran of the U.S Navy and the Army Reserve, Bill honorably served this great nation. As an employee of the U.S. Postal Service, Bill dedicated his 25-year career to the service of his community and the neighborhoods of Columbus. He was a lifetime member of A.L. Brooks Post #157 of the American Legion, and a member of Voiture 15 of the 40/8. A spiritual and virtuous man, Bill was a lifetime member of Shiloh Baptist Church, where he served with great joy in the Senior Choir and the Male Chorus.

Bill left an indelible impression on the people whose lives he touched, and will be remembered for his generosity, compassion and wisdom. The world is a richer place for Bill having been in it, and he will be sorely missed by his wife, Ruby; daughters, Jacqueline and Jennifer Saunders, and Rev. Janet (Victor) Sheppard; grandchildren, Janethia and Janeese Saunders, Jackiethia Saunders-Morris, Allegra (Brian) Jackson, Jalen-LaSalle Sheppard, Alex Saunders-White, Rubie Morris; and many other relatives and friends too numerous to name, but who share in this great loss.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution be presented to the family of William Arthur Saunders with our deepest and most sincere sympathies.
