Explanation

Memorandum of Understanding #2009-02 was executed by representatives of the City and Columbus Firefighters Union Local 67 IAFF, which agreement creates a successor collective bargaining agreement to the 2007-2010 collective bargaining agreement. Voting bargaining unit members unanimously accepted the Memorandum of Understanding. The passage of this ordinance indicates Council's acceptance of Memorandum of Understanding #2009-02, a copy of which is attached hereto.

Emergency action is recommended in order to immediately effect the provisions.

Title

To accept Memorandum of Understanding #2009-02 executed between representatives of the City of Columbus and Columbus Firefighters Union Local 67 IAFF, which agreement creates a successor collective bargaining agreement to the 2007-2010 collective bargaining agreement; and to declare an emergency.

Body

WHEREAS, representatives of the City and Columbus Firefighters Union Local 67 IAFF entered into Memorandum of Understanding #2009-02, a copy of which is attached hereto; and

WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the City in that it is immediately necessary to accept Memorandum of Understanding #2009-02 thereby preserving the public peace, property, health, safety, and welfare; Now, Therefore

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:

SECTION 1. That Memorandum of Understanding #2009-02, executed by representatives of the City and Columbus Firefighters Union Local 67 IAFF, creates the terms of a successor collective bargaining agreement, dated December 13, 2009 through May 31, 2012.

SECTION 2. That City Council, in the best interest of the City, hereby recognizes and accepts Memorandum of Understanding #2009-02, a copy of which is attached hereto, executed between representatives of the City and Columbus Firefighters Union Local 67 IAFF.
