BACKGROUND: This ordinance authorizes the Director of Public Safety to enter into contract with Ohio Valley Audio Visual for the purpose of the redesign, construction, and installation of audio visual components for the Division of Police Headquarters 8th Floor Conference Room. The Headquarters 8th Floor Conference is in need of a retrofit to allow for better presentations within the Division and outside vendors, the ability to communicate with other bureaus in the field, and other agencies across the nation. This purchase by the City of Columbus is from a State of Ohio contract which is authorized by Ordinance 582-87 that allows for the cooperative purchasing between the State of Ohio Department of Administrative Services Cooperative Contracts and other government entities.

EMERGENCY DESIGNATION: Emergency legislation is needed to allow for immediate design, construction, and installation in the Division of Police’s Headquarters Building.
FISCAL IMPACT: This ordinance authorizes an expenditure of $111,391.90 from the Law Enforcement Contraband Seizure fund with Ohio Valley Audio Visual. $72,500.00 has been appropriated in the Law Enforcement Contraband Seizure Funds for this purchase. An additional appropriation is requested in this ordinance.
