Explanation
This legislation authorizes the Director of Public Safety to amend the existing contract with the Community Crime Patrol, Inc. by increasing the current agreement by $50,000. The Community Crime Patrol Inc. assists the Division of Police in identifying suspicious activities indicative of criminal behavior and reporting them to the Division of Police. Neighborhoods patrolled include the Hilltop, Franklinton, Merion Southwood, the Ohio State University District and several multi-use trails around the City. The expiration date of this contract is February 2010.

Emergency Designation: This legislation is presented as an emergency to ensure that the community crime patrol program continues without interruption.

FISCAL IMPACT: This amendment is being funded by a grant award through the 2009 JAG American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). No General Fund or other City funds are needed to match this grant. The total amount of the contract including this modification is $250,000. Legislation No 0326-2009, passed earlier in the year allocated $200,000 to the Community Crime Patrol Inc.
