Explanation
This ordinance authorizes the Public Service Director to enter into a contract with G & G Cement Contractors for brick street repair. The Transportation Division is responsible for maintaining the City's roadway system through a viable renovation program. A brick rehabilitation project is needed to prevent premature deterioration of the City's brick roadways. The contract will consist of replacing brick pavement on thirteen City streets. The Transportation Division will perform inspection services at a cost not to exceed $24,500.00. This project was bid in compliance with the City Code and advertised in the City Bulletin. Formal competitive bids were received and tabulated on July 1, 2004 received by the Transportation Division as follows:

The Transportation Division recommends acceptance of the bid by G & G Cement Contractors as the (Contract Compliance Number 31-0924129; Expiration Date December 18, 2005) as the lowest, best, most responsive and most responsible bidder.
Fiscal Impact: The Transportation Division budgeted $150,000.00 in the 2004 Capital Improvements Budget within the Brick Rehabilitation. This ordinance authorizes and expenditure of $146,678.00.
Emergency action is requested to allow this project to proceed and be completed this construction season.
