Explanation

BACKGROUND: This ordinance authorizes the Board of Health to accept and appropriate $2,400.00 in grant funds from the Safe Kids Worldwide for the Safe Kids Ohio and State Farm Safety grant program for the period of October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2026.

The purpose of the Teen Safe Driving Program is to utilize funds to conduct teen driver educational sessions and community outreach events, with priority given to families in underserved and marginalized areas, in order to promote injury prevention and improve traffic safety outcomes.

Emergency action is requested to allow the financial transaction to be posted in the city’s accounting system as soon as possible. Up to date financial posting promotes accurate accounting and financial management.

FISCAL IMPACT: The Teen Safe Driving Program grant does not generate revenue or require a City Match.

WHEREAS, $2,400.00 in grant funds have been made available through the Safe Kids Worldwide and State Farm for the purchase of supplies for the Teen Safe Driving Program for the period of October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2026; and,

WHEREAS, it is necessary to accept and appropriate these funds from the Safe Kids Worldwide and State Farm for the continued support of Teen Safe Driving Program; and,

WHEREAS, the City may receive additional funds awarded from the Safe Kids Worldwide and State Farm for the Teen Safe Driving Program; and
