Explanation
BACKGROUND:
This legislation amends Ordinance 1229-01, passed July 16, 2001. Ordinance 1229-01 authorized the expenditure of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program funds in the amount of $20,500 for relocation expenses for a specific project, the South of Main properties. Due to a number of external factors and other issues associated with that project, all of the authorized funds were not necessary and $17,700 remains unspent. Relocation dollars are now needed for anticipated emergency situations in additional areas of the City. This amendment will allow the Housing Division to use the remaining $17,700 for the relocation expenses of eligible low and moderate-income households in accordance with HUD guidelines in any area of the City.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No additional funds are required for this legislation. Funding for this purpose was allocated from the Affordable Housing Opportunity Fund portion of the Community Development Block Grant Fund. Funds are currently available on AC010616/001.
