Explanation
BACKGROUND: The need exits to amend Ordinance 1608-2025 (the “ORDINANCE”), approved by Columbus City Council (“COUNCIL”) on June 30, 2025. The ORDINANCE authorized the Director of the Department of Development to enter into a City of Columbus Community Reinvestment Area Agreement (the “AGREEMENT”) on the behalf of the City with Dach Family Limited Partnership (the “ENTERPRISE”) for a tax abatement of seventy-five percent (75%) for a period of fifteen (15) consecutive years in consideration of a proposed investment of approximately $8,000,000.00 in real property improvements to expand their distribution facility of 171,000 square feet by another 109,000 square foot, totaling 280,000 square feet, the creation four (4) full-time jobs with an estimated associated annual payroll of approximately $191,360.00 and the retention of twenty-two (22) existing full-time permanent jobs with an associated estimated annual payroll of approximately $1,381,961.00 (the “PROJECT”) at 6375 LaSalle Dr. Columbus, OH 43137, Parcel No. 495-263842 within the City of Columbus Rickenbacker Community Reinvestment Area (the “PROJECT SITE”).
Prior to executing the AGREEMENT, the 90-day period needed to execute the City of Columbus Community Reinvestment Area Agreement expired, and the ENTERPRISE is requesting the 90-day period be extended to execute the AGREEMENT.
The need now exists to amend the ORDINANCE. The ENTERPRISE is requesting the ORDINANCE be amended to revise the 90-day period needed to execute the AGREEMENT, to 90 days after passage from this ordinance. This will not impact on the scope of the project as authorized by Columbus City Council. All job retention, job creation, and investment commitments remain unchanged.
This legislation is being presented as 30-day legislation.
