To recognize and celebrate September 24-30 2023 as Fashion Week Columbus

WHEREAS, Fashion Week Columbus was founded by Thomas McClure in 2010 and is the flagship program of the Columbus Fashion Council which produces a full week of fashion shows and fashion-related programs showcasing emerging fashion designers to media, buyers, and the incredible fashion community in Central Ohio;
WHEREAS, The Columbus Fashion Council is a non-profit organization seeking to expand the fashion economy in Central Ohio through a combination of industry growth initiatives, community organizer support, funding access opportunities and creative program development
WHEREAS, Columbus ranks third in its number of resident fashion designers, trailing only New York and LA;
WHEREAS, Since its debut in 2010, Fashion Week Columbus (the flagship program of the Columbus Fashion Council) has impacted the Central Ohio community by showcasing 150+ emerging fashion designers, providing 2000+ models exposure to big name agencies, awarding $40,000 in scholarships to fashion design students, and producing 150+ fashion shows;
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this Council does hereby recognize the numerous economic and creative contributions by the Columbus Fashion Council and celebrates the week of September 24-30 2023 as Fashion Week Columbus.
