Explanation
This legislation authorizes the Director of Public Utilities establish a purchase order to the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) for the purposes of providing funding and continued support for the Franklin County Greenways Plan for Fiscal Year 2008.

City funding, along with funds from the State of Ohio, Department of Natural Resources, will allow for continued program funding. The results of this program will be very useful to the Division of Sewerage and Drainage, by providing better services to the City Of Columbus in the form of better floodplain infrastructure, and improved stream water quality. The mission of the program is to foster a better understanding and appreciation for the role that waterways play in our environment.

WHEREAS, the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) has developed multi-jurisdictional plans for long-term protection and enhancement of our rivers and streams, and

WHEREAS, City funding, along with funds from the State of Ohio, Department of Natural Resources, will allow for continued program funding, and

WHEREAS, these plans will potentially result in better floodplain management, resulting in lower property damage, lead to the safety and heath of the citizens, cost savings in infrastructure, and improved stream water quality; now, therefore,
