To recognize Columbus Fire Deputy Chief Robert Coles for his outstanding leadership in the achievement of the Columbus Division of Fire's International Accreditation from the Commission on Fire Accreditation, Inc. (CFAI).




Body

WHEREAS, on March 7, 2007, the Columbus Division of Fire received Accredited Agency status with the Commission on Fire Accreditation International, Inc. (CFAI) for meeting the criteria established through the CFAI's voluntary self-assessment accreditation program; and

WHEREAS, the Columbus Division of Fire is one of ten agencies that has achieved Internationally Accredited Agency status with the CFAI and the Center for Public Safety Excellence, Inc; and

WHEREAS, the Columbus Division of Fire is the second largest metropolitan fire department in the country to achieve this high standard, and is only the third of the 25 largest fire departments in the United States to be granted accreditation; and

WHEREAS, Columbus Fire Deputy Chief Robert Coles, a 30-plus year veteran of the Columbus Division of Fire, served as the project manager for the Division's Accreditation Committee; and

WHEREAS, in addition to leading the Division of Fire's accreditation efforts, Deputy Chief Coles is in charge of the Division's Special Operations Unit, serves as the EMS billing contract manager and on the grievance committee for Columbus Firefighters Local 67 and has previously served as the Assistant Bureau Head for the Division's Fire Prevention Bureau and was assigned to Engine and Ladder Companies that service the city's downtown and West Side areas; and

WHEREAS, The CFAI accreditation process is the most stringent assessment and peer review system for the fire service and earning accreditation is the culmination of over four years of tireless efforts by the Division of Fire lead by Deputy Chief Coles; and
