Explanation
The Public Utilities Department, Sewerage and Drainage Division, has performed storm sewer work in the Bliss Run Relief Trunk Sewer Improvement, Phase 2 project area on Brownlee Avenue. The Public Service Department, Transportation Division, has a need to replace the curb and gutter on Brownlee Avenue between Eastmoor Boulevard and Parkland Place. This includes approximately 1,796 feet of curb and gutter. In an effort to provide a consistent and seamless project, save the City time and money, and to avoid placing an unnecessary burden on area residents due to two divisions and possibly two different contractors being involved, it is in the City's best interest to combine the storm sewer, resurfacing, and curb and gutter work into a single project administered by the Sewerage and Drainage Division. Project managers from both divisions worked on the project.

This legislation authorizes the Transportation Division to reimburse the Sewerage and Drainage Division $50,105.40 for this curb and gutter renovation work. This estimated amount is equal to what the Transportation Division would pay for its contractor to mobilize and complete the curb and gutter renovation work on this street.

Fiscal Impact: The Transportation Division budgeted $60,000 in the 2005 Capital Improvements Budget to reimburse the Sewerage & Drainage Division for the Bliss Run Relief Trunk Sewer Improvement (Brownlee Avenue). Actual funds will be available in the 1995, 1999 Voted Streets and Highways Fund in the Roadway Improvements as a result of the Fall 2005 bond sale. This ordinance authorizes an expenditure of $50,108.40.
