Explanation
BACKGROUND: This ordinance authorizes the Board of Health to accept and appropriate $3,500.00 in grant funds from the University of Michigan School of Public Health for the 2026 Region V Webinar Grant program, for the period of April 1, 2026, through December 31, 2026.
The purpose of this grant is to create training deliverables for the University of Michigan Region V Public Health Training Center.
Emergency action is requested to allow planning and expenditures for future events to begin as soon as possible given the grant start date of April 1, 2026.
FISCAL IMPACT: The 2026 Region V Webinar Grant program is fully funded by the University of Michigan School of Public Health. This grant program does not generate revenue and does not require a City match. ($3,500.00)

To authorize the Board of Health to accept funds from the University of Michigan School of Public Health and any additional funds for the 2026 Region V Webinar Grant; to authorize the appropriation of funds from the unappropriated balance of the Health Department Grants Fund, to authorize the City Auditor to transfer appropriations between object classes for the 2026 Region V Webinar Grant; and to declare an emergency. ($3,500.00)

WHEREAS, $3,500.00 in funds have been awarded to Columbus Public Health from the University of Michigan School of Public Health for the 2026 Region V Webinar Grant program for the period of April 1, 2026, through December 31, 2026; and,
WHEREAS, it is necessary to accept and appropriate these funds from the University of Michigan School of Public Health for the 2026 Region V Webinar Grant; and,
WHEREAS, the City may receive additional funds awarded from the University of Michigan School of Public Health for the 2026 Region V Webinar Grant; and
