Explanation
BACKGROUND:

Need: The Fire Division is in need to purchase thermal imaging cameras; this legislation is to authorize and direct the Finance and Management Director to issue a purchase order for thermal imaging cameras from an existing Universal Term Contract established by the Purchasing Office for such purpose with Fire Safety Services.

Ordinance 0133-2007 passed 3/5/2007 for the purchase of twenty-eight (28) thermal imaging cameras; this ordinance will outfit all remaining front line apparatus with thermal imaging cameras.

Bid Information: A Universal Term Contract exists for this purchase with Fire Safety Services via contract FL003311 expiring 11/30/2008.

Contract Compliance: Fire Safety Services #340962724 expires 4/1/2008

Emergency Designation: This legislation is to be declared an emergency measure to ensure a rapid replacement of old and discontinued cameras currently in use by the Division of Fire.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Budgeted Amount: Funds exist within the Fire Division's Capital Budget specifically for this purchase. This ordinance will authorize the purchase of nineteen (19) additional thermal imaging cameras.
