Explanation
Background:
This legislation will authorize the City Attorney to accept the VAWA Domestic Violence Prosecutors Grant #06-WF-VA2-8758 from the Franklin County Board of Commissioners, Office of Homeland Security and Justice Programs, for the continued funding of the VAWA Domestic Violence Prosecutors program within the Domestic Violence unit of the City Attorney's Office. The Domestic Violence unit assists witnesses and victims of domestic violence through the legal process and provides counseling, referrals, and linkage with agencies and community resources. This ordinance will further authorize the transfer and appropriation of matching funds required by the grant award.
Emergency action is requested to allow for the uninterrupted continuation of this grant program.
Fiscal Impact:
The required matching funds of $38,203.00 are included in the City Attorney's 2007 General Fund Budget.
