Explanation
BACKGROUND: This legislation authorizes the Director of the Department of Development to modify Contract EL015804 with the Amethyst, Inc. by extending the contract termination date from March 31, 2015 to December 31, 2016. This contract supports the Amethyst’s HEART Project. The HEART Project is Home Embracing Addiction, Recovery and Treatment program. This legislation would modify the Agreement authorized by Ordinance 0570-2014, passed on March 24, 2014.
Emergency action is requested so program activities can be completed without further delay.
FISCAL IMPACT: No additional funds are needed for this modification.

To authorize the Director of the Department of Development to modify the HEART Project contract with the Amethyst, Inc. by extending the contract termination date to December 31, 2016; and to declare an emergency.
Body
WHEREAS, the Director of the Department of Development desires to modify Contract EL015804 with the Amethyst, Inc. by extending the contract termination date from March 31, 2015 to December 31, 2016; and
WHEREAS, this contract supports Amethyst’s HEART Project; and
WHEREAS, this modification will allow the Amethyst, Inc to complete its goals; and
WHEREAS, no additional funds are needed to modify this agreement; and
WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Department of Development in that it is immediately necessary to modify the agreement with Amethyst, Inc so program activities can be completed without further delay, all for the immediate preservation of the public health, peace, property, safety and welfare; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
SECTION 1. That the Director of the Department of Development is hereby authorized to modify Contract EL015804 with the Amethyst, Inc. by extending the contract termination date from March 31, 2015 to December 31, 2016.
