Explanation
BACKGROUND: This ordinance authorizes the Finance and Management Director to renew a custodial services contract with K&M Kleening Service, Inc. at the Health Department building, located at 240 Parsons Avenue in the amount of $299,880.00. The extension is for the period October 21, 2007 through October 20, 2008. The original contract was authorized by Ordinance 1359-2006, passed August 2, 2006. The original contract was for the period October 21, 2006 through October 20, 2007, with four annual renewal options. This is the first of those four renewal options.
Emergency action is requested so that custodial services may continue without interruption, thereby ensuring that the accreditation with the Joint Commission for the Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO) does not lapse.
Fiscal Impact: The Facilities Management Division budgeted $299,880.00 for this contract in the 2007 budget. The cost of this contract in 2006 was $297,743.00.
