To Congratulate Michael Stinziano as the 2026 George Meany Community Leadership Award Recipient
Body
WHEREAS, the George Meany Awards Banquet, the largest labor recognition of its kind in the country, is a night for the Central Ohio AFL-CIO and the United Way Community Services Department to recognize local business and labor leaders who have given outstanding volunteer service to the community; and
WHEREAS, the George Meany Awards, named after the late George Meany, former President of the national AFL-CIO, are presented by the Central Ohio AFL-CIO to a labor person for outstanding leadership and support of health, welfare, and recreation services to the Central Ohio Community; and
WHEREAS, Franklin County Auditor Michael Stinziano has spent his life as a dedicated public servant, committed to innovation and results for his constituents; and
WHEREAS, born in Franklinton and raised in Columbus’ University District community, County Auditor Stinziano earned degrees from the University of Richmond, George Washington University, and The Ohio State University Mortiz College of Law-returning to his home state to carry out pragmatic, bipartisan leadership; and
WHEREAS, over a lifetime of public service, including his time spent leading the Franklin County Board of Elections, serving as a Representative in Ohio’s General Assembly, and as a Member of Columbus City Council, County Auditor Stinziano has consistently championed the needs of all Ohioans at various levels of governance, working to keep consumers safe and informed and streamlining programs for hard-working Ohioans seeking to maximize tax benefits; and
WHEREAS, having previously served on numerous boards, County Auditor Stinziano also invests in future leaders in his role as an adjunct law professor at Capital University Law School where he teaches courses on the legislative process; and
