Explanation
Background: This legislation authorizes the Director of Finance and Management to enter into a License Agreement Amendment by and between the City and the Franklin County Board of Elections, for temporary use of furnished classroom and common areas for provision of election poll worker training at the City facility located at 750 Piedmont Avenue, Columbus,. The Board of Elections has leased the Piedmont building and surplus furniture since 2019 to conduct election poll worker training and wishes to continue its lease through the May 2023 Primary Election. The amendment will extend the term of the agreement through May 19, 2023, specify the rent for the extended term, and grant an option to buy, at the prices specified, city-owned surplus furniture included in the License Agreement and leased since 2019.
Fiscal Impact: No funds are required. The City will receive compensation to offset the City’s cost for the provision of utilities and janitorial services provided during the extended term. Additional compensation will be received for the sale of any surplus furniture should option be exercised by the Licensee. All compensation will be deposited in the General Fund.
Emergency Action: This legislation request emergency designation so that the Franklin County Board of Elections can continue operations uninterrupted through the Ohio 2023 Primary Election.
