To honor and recognize the Alzheimer's Association, Central Ohio Chapter as they promote awareness of the disease, and to promote the Columbus Walk to End Alzheimer’s on October 13th, 2024.

WHEREAS, Alzheimer's disease is a progressive and fatal disease that destroys brain cells, causing memory loss and severe problems with thinking and behavior; and
WHEREAS, today, nearly seven million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease, more than eleven million Americans provide unpaid care for a person with Alzheimer's or other dementias, and care costs are estimated to total approximately $360 billion in 2024; and
WHEREAS, the Alzheimer’s Association is the world’s leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer’s care, support, and research, and the Central Ohio chapter serves as a caregiver and resource in our community while we search for a cure; and
WHEREAS, the Columbus Walk to End Alzheimer’s assists the Association with achieving its vision of "A World without Alzheimer's";
WHEREAS, recognizing these events provide an opportunity to promote and join the global conversation about the brain and Alzheimer’s disease as a public health crisis; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That we do hereby recognize the Alzheimer's Association, Central Ohio Chapter as they promote awareness of the disease, and promote the Columbus Walk to End Alzheimer’s on October 13th, 2024.
