Explanation
1. BACKGROUND
This ordinance authorizes the Director of Finance and Management, on behalf of the Department of Technology, to enter into contract and issue purchase orders as needed with Mako Power LLC for the purchase and installation of two hundred and thirty-two (232) Enersys HX505 batteries in the two existing UPS systems at Data Center West over the course of two consecutive Saturdays, and subsequent environmentally sound disposal of the replaced batteries. In the event of a power outage, the Department of Technology will use the new batteries to power the existing UPS systems that serve as continual power supplies at Data Center West. The existing batteries have reached the end of their life cycle, and pose a risk of failure if a power loss occurs.
The Purchasing Office advertised and solicited competitive bids in accordance with the relevant provisions of City Code Chapter 329 relating to competitive bidding (Solicitation RFQ028877) through Vendor Services. The city received seven bids for the UPS battery replacement goods and services on October 25, 2024, and they were tabulated as follows:
