To honor William Wegman and to celebrate the arrival of the Funney/Strange retrospective to Columbus.

Body

WHEREAS, The Wexner Center for the Arts is a world-renowned contemporary arts center that enriches the cultural life of the city; and

WHEREAS, Mr. William Wegman is recognized as one of the most important American artists of our time; and

WHEREAS, The Wexner Center is hosting a major retrospective featuring more than 200 works by Wegman from the last 40 years, and is serving as the only Midwest stop; and

WHEREAS, Mr. William Wegman will be in Columbus on September 19^th, 2007 for the opening of the exhibition which will showcase his photography, paintings, drawings, collages, and videos from the 1960s to the present; and

WHEREAS, we are inspired by the humor and creative genius of Mr. William Wegman's work; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:

That we do hereby recognize and honor the outstanding artwork of Mr. William Wegman and join with the community in celebration as he presents his showcase to Columbus.
