Title: To authorize the Director of the Finance and Management Department on behalf of the Director of the Development Department to execute those documents necessary to enter into an occupancy license agreement with Capitol South Community Urban Redevelopment Corporation to support the operation of the Downtown Development Resource Center located at 20 East Broad St.; and to authorize the expenditure of $54,750 from the General Fund. Explanation

Background: The Department of Development desires to enter into an occupancy license agreement with The Capitol South Community Urban Redevelopment Corporation (hereinafter "Capitol South"). Capitol South is operating the Downtown Development Resource Center located at 20 East Broad St., which is occupied by City Downtown staff and other participating occupants. Operation of the Downtown Development Resource Center benefits the City by preserving and improving the quality of life in Downtown Columbus, encouraging businesses to locate or remain downtown, and encouraging the preservation and development of downtown property. The City will also benefit from the presence in the office of a seamless telephone system and computer network in order to link City, Capitol South and the other participating occupants in the effort to preserve and improve Downtown Columbus. This legislation authorizes the Director of the Finance and Management Department on behalf of the Director of the Department of Development to execute those documents necessary to enter into an occupancy license agreement with Capitol South for the 12-month period beginning January 1, 2006 and ending December 31, 2006 and to expend $54,750 from the General Fund.

Fiscal Impact: $54,750 is available from the Department of Development, General Fund.
