Title
To honor and recognize the Greater Linden Development Corporation for improving the quality of life in the Greater Linden community through housing and economic development, planning, coordination of services, and other community-building activities.
Body
WHEREAS, The Greater Linden Development Corporation has been the lead agency addressing economic development in Linden since 1995. In 2007, nearly 50 Linden businesses became paid members of Greater Linden Business Community; and
WHEREAS, The Greater Linden Development Corporation has been an active partner and leader in the Four Corners redevelopment project since its conceptual stage, and is the lead developer of the newly-constructed Clarence D. Lumpkin Point of Pride Building located on the northeast corner of the Cleveland and Eleventh Avenue intersection; and
WHEREAS, The Huntington Community Center, located on the first floor of Point of Pride, will provide quality meeting and training space for Linden community groups and rentable space for businesses from outside of the Linden area; and
WHEREAS, over the past several years, The Greater Linden Development Corporation has implemented the Handsome House, Beautiful Business and Linden Lights contests to annually recognize a dozen homeowners and half a dozen businesses that demonstrate pride in their properties through landscaping, quality maintenance, and holiday decorations; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
That this Council does hereby recognize the Greater Linden Development Corporation's extensive community outreach through its continual networking with numerous agencies, City departments, and neighborhood organizations.
