Explanation

Background: This ordinance authorizes The Public Service Director to enter into an agreement with the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) for the Rehabilitation of 3.74 miles of Indianola Avenue, Morse Road, and High Street (U.S. Route 23), by means of planing, resurfacing, and partial depth pavement repair.

Project Limits extend on U.S. Route 23 (Indianola Avenue) from Hudson Street to Oakland Park Avenue; resuming on U.S. Route 23 (Indianola Avenue) from 0.01 miles north of Cooke Road to Morse Road; on Morse Road from Indianola Avenue to North High Street; and on North High Street from Morse Road to the Worthington corporation limit (0.82 miles north of Morse Road). (FRA-23-15.35, PID 79359)

Emergency action is requested in order to meet ODOT's schedule to bid this project on May 21, 2008. In order to do this paperwork needs to be returned to ODOT by May 9, 2008. The project is scheduled to begin construction in August 2008 and end in October 2008.

Fiscal Impact: The estimated cost of construction for this project is $884,933.00. The total share of the cost for the City is now estimated at $221,644.00, but the estimated amount will be adjusted so that the City's ultimate share of the cost of the improvement shall correspond with the actual cost when said actual costs are determined. Funds for the City's share of this project are budgeted in the 2007 Transportation Division Capital Improvement Budget.
