Explanation
This legislation authorizes the Director of the Office of Education to accept, appropriate and expend money received from the Franklin County Department of Job and Family Services and then enter into contract with TECH CORPS Ohio. This money will be used for funding of the City Student TECH CORPS program from February 13, 2006 to June 30, 2006. The program will provide basic technology training for students ages 14 to 18 who are TANF eligible.
FISCAL IMPACT: $144,089.40 has been received from the Franklin County Department of Job and Family Services to fund the City Student TECH CORPS program. Money will be in Education Special Grant Fund 291, Grant 400002 OCA 40002 OBJ LVL 03-3336. TECH CORPS Ohio will receive approximately $101,280.00. The money will be reimbursed for services rendered.

To authorize the Director of the Office of Education to accept a grant in the amount of $144,089.40 from Franklin County Department of Job and Family Services; to enter into contract with TECH CORPS Ohio for the purpose of providing basic technology training for students ages 14 to 18 who are TANF eligible; and to declare an emergency.
Body
WHEREAS, the Director of the Mayor's Office of Education desires to accept, appropriate and expend $144,089.40 received from the Franklin County Department of Job and Family Services; and
WHEREAS, the Director of the Mayor's Office of Education desires to enter into contract with TECH CORPS Ohio to provide training; and
WHEREAS, the training provided with these dollars will be of the highest quality; and
WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Office of Education in that it is immediately necessary to authorize the acceptance of this grant and to enter into contract with TECH CORPS Ohio to avoid interruption in necessary services, thereby preserving the public health, peace, property, safety and welfare; and now,
