Explanation
Background: This is consent legislation with Franklin County, Ohio for the Stelzer Road from I-670 to Foraker Drive project.
This project involves widening the section of Stelzer Road from I-670 to Foraker Drive to match the multi lane sections at both ends of this section of arterial roadway. This project was originally a City of Columbus project but a low priority. In 2002 it was decided that Franklin County would take the lead in improvement of this roadway. The City of Columbus Electricity Division has agreed to provide long term maintenance and power for the street lighting on this section of roadway. The construction of this project will be funded 80% by federal-aid and 20% by OPWC. This project is currently scheduled for construction in 2005.
Since a portion of this project lies within the City of Columbus, this consent ordinance is necessary. This legislation also authorizes the Public Service Director to enter into the necessary agreements to complete this project.
Fiscal Impact: Franklin County will fund this project through 80% federal aid and 20% OPWC funds. There is no payment required from the City at this time.
