Explanation
BACKGROUND: This legislation authorizes the appropriation of Emergency Human Services Capital Funds to the Department of Development and authorizes the Director of the Department of Development to enter into contracts with two social service agencies, the Center for Child and Family Advocacy and the Salvation Army, for financial assistance for capital related costs associated with the operations and ownership of their facilities. The total amount of these contracts is $200,000.00.
This ordinance represents agencies funded as a result of the Emergency Human Services Capital Fund evaluation process. Its intent is to support the on-going efforts of non-profit community based social service organizations that provide a direct service to the public. These services include but are not limited to, programs and activities for youth, adults and families.
This ordinance is an emergency due to these agencies' capital costs associated with ownership and operations of their facilities.
FISCAL IMPACT: Funds for these contracts are allocated from the Emergency Human Services Capital Fund. This appropriation reduces the unappropriated balance of the Emergency Human Services Fund by $200,000.
