Explanation
Background: Ordinance 2473-2003 passed by City Council December 1, 2003, authorized the expenditure of $1,300,000.00 to construct roadways on the western portion of Northland Park. Approximately $96,000.00 of this larger sum was allocated for project-related construction inspection expenses. This is now projected to be insufficient and additional monies in the amount of $50,000.00 are needed for construction inspection. The shortage is due to the nature of this project, the extended time of construction and the problems incurred during construction. Areas in the pavement where on-site crushed concrete was used for sub-base are exhibiting problems, requiring additional coring samples. This $50,000.00 is projected to cover this additional construction inspection, the coring costs and the project wrap-up.

Fiscal Impact: Monies for this expense are available within the Development Capital Fund in the Miscellaneous Development project.

Emergency action is requested to be able to continue paying construction inspection expenses as soon as possible to maintain cash flow within the Development Services Fund and to keep the project on schedule.
