Explanation
BACKGROUND: The Division of Water, Department of Public Utilities entered into a contract with CDM, for professional engineering services for the design of the Upgrade of Water Distribution System Control Data Acquisition project, on July 23,, 2001 under the authority of Ordinance No. 710-01 passed May 7, 2001. This modification provides for additional engineering services for construction management and inspection services for this project. The construction phase of the contract has taken longer than originally planned, and therefore additional inspection costs will be incurred. These additional fees will be reimbursed to the Division of Water by Televent Automation, the construction contractor, in the form of price rebates. CDM is a majority firm.

EXPLANATION:
1. Amount of additional funds to be expended under this modification: $42,000.00
2. Reasons additional goods/services could not be foreseen initially: This contract modification is for additional engineering services to continue inspection services past the expected completion date.
3. Reasons other procurement processes are not used: The existing consultant is uniquely familiar with the project.
How cost of Modification was determined: The rates were negotiated between the Consultant and the City of Columbus as documented by the Consultant's quotation letter.
