Explanation
This legislation authorizes the Office of Education to modify the original contract with Boys and Girls Clubs of Columbus @ Kent Elementary School (Ordinance 0341-05). The orginal contract provided funding for 11 months. Funds will only be needed until the end of the 2005 school year. This modification will adjust the contract to provided funding for after school programs from February 1, 2005 through June 30, 2005.

To authorize the Office of Education to modify the original contract term with Boys and Girls Clubs of Columbus @ Kent Elementary School (Ordinance 0341-05) from January 1, 2005 through December 31, 2005 to February 1, 2005 through June 30, 2005; and to authorize the expenditure of $21,269.00 ($21,269.00).
Body
WHEREAS, the Office of Education desires to modify the orginal contract with Boys and Girls Clubs of Columbus @ Kent Elementary School (Ordinance 0341-05); and
WHEREAS, Boys and Girls Clubs of Columbus @ Kent Elemenary School provides services and programming to the community through after school programs; and
WHEREAS, it is important to provide youth program opportunities with high standards and including components such as academic assistance, enrichment activities, prevention units, recreation and socialization, strong family involvment and nutritious food service; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor's Office of Education wishes to modify the existing contract through the expenditure of $21,269.00 rather than the original $40,500.00 with a difference of $19,231.00; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
Section 1. That the Office of Education is hereby authorized to modify the existing contract with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Columbus @ Kent Elementary School (Ordinance 0341-05) After School Program (45 children served) from the General Fund No. 010.
Section 2. That this contract was awarded pursuant to 329.15 of the Columbus City Codes, 1959, as amended.
Section 3. That for the purpose stated in Section 1, the expenditure of $21,269.00 or so much thereof as maybe necessary, be and is hereby authorized to be expended from the Office of Education , Division No. 40-04, Fund No. 010, Object Level One 03, Object Level 3337, OCA 404004.
Section 4. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
