Explanation

BACKGROUND: The Columbus Health Department has a need for the support of Pregnancy Care Connection (PCC) operations. This ordinance authorizes the Board of Health to enter into a contract with the Council on Healthy Mothers and Babies (COHMAB) to provide these services.

COHMAB will maintain a centralized phone line for scheduling first prenatal care appointments for uninsured and underinsured women. COHMAB will maintain the operation of the line, maintain a database system, evaluate and distribute reports about PCC, develop and disseminate outreach information and materials, and maintain the COHMAB website to promote the PCC program. Funds will support the following: personnel, data system, outreach materials/information, website maintenance, mileage and supplies.

The Council on Healthy Mothers and Babies' FID Number is 42-1546970. It is a non-profit organization and is therefore exempt from contract compliance.

Emergency action is requested in order to avoid any delays in providing program services.

FISCAL IMPACT: Monies for this contract have been made available in the FY2007 budget for the Health Special Revenue Fund.

WHEREAS, the Board of Health has a need for Council on Healthy Mothers and Babies to provide Pregnancy Care Connection services for the Women's Health Services program for the period of July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008, and,

WHEREAS, Council for Healthy Mothers and Babies has the expertise to provide such services to patients in the Women's Health Services Program; and,
