Explanation
BACKGROUND: The Columbus Health Department has been awarded additional grant funds from the Ohio Department of Health for the Public Health Infrastructure program in the amount of $11,869. These additional funds will support additional pandemic influenza planning and preparation activities in central Ohio. The purpose of this legislation is to accept and appropriate these funds and re-align existing appropriation for the period ending December 31, 2007.
The primary objective of the Public Health Infrastructure program is to develop an infrastructure system to address terrorism and bioterrorism activities should they occur in central Ohio.
This ordinance is submitted as an emergency so as to allow the financial transaction to be posted in the City's accounting system as soon as possible. Up to date financial posting promotes accurate accounting and financial management.
FISCAL IMPACT: The Public Health Infrastructure program is primarily funded by the Ohio Department of Health. The program does require ancillary mileage monies from the City, which are budgeted and available.

WHEREAS, $11,869 in additional grant funds have been made available through the Ohio Department of Health for the Public Health Infrastructure grant program for the period ending December 31, 2007; and,
WHEREAS, it is necessary to accept and appropriate these funds from the Ohio Department of Health for the continued support of the Public Health Infrastructure program; and,
