Explanation
Background: This legislation authorizes the City to enter into a contract in an amount up to $777,573.55 for the Crack Seal 2007 project and to pay construction inspection costs up to $38,878.68. This improvement consists of crack sealing arterial and residential streets. The estimated Notice to Proceed date is July, 2007. This project has been given 90 days to complete the construction of the project. The project was let by the Transportation Division and was advertised in the City Bulletin, Dodge Reports, and by the Builders Exchange. Three (3) bidders/suppliers requested bids (3 majority, 0 minority) and two (2) bids were received (2 majority, 0 minority) and tabulated on May 24, 2007 as follows:
American Pavements, Inc. $777,573.55
Strawser, Inc. $797,172.29
Award is to be made to American Pavements, Inc. c.c. #31-1409601 (expiring January 13, 2008), as the lowest responsive, responsible and best bidder.
Emergency action is requested to allow the project to be completed in the 2007 construction season.
Fiscal Impact: Funding for this project in the amount of $816,452.23 is budgeted with the Transportation Division as part of the 2007 Capital Improvement Program and is available within the 1995, 1999, 2004 Voted Streets and Highways Fund for this work.
