To authorize and direct the Finance and Management Director to issue a purchase order to Howell Rescue Systems, Inc. in the amount of $75,490.00, for the purchase of Genesis Rescue Tools for the Fire Division; to authorize the expenditure of $75,490.00 from the Safety Bond Fund; and to declare an emergency. Explanation
BACKGROUND The Fire Division is in need to purchase Genesis Rescue Tools for it's rescue fleet; this ordinance authorizes and directs the Finance and Management Director to issue a purchase order to Howell Rescue Systems, Inc. in the amount of $75,490.00, for this purchase, via the Safety Bond Fund, in accordance with Solicitation SA002431.

Bid Information/Contract Compliance: Bids were solicited by the Purchasing Office as per Solicitation SA002431, with Howell Rescue Systems, Inc. submitting the lowest, best, responsive and responsible bid.

Contract Compliance: 31-1402133 (Expires 9/15/08)

Emergency Designation: This legislation is to be considered an emergency measure to allow for the immediate use of funds, and immediate purchase of this equipment.

FISCAL IMPACT: Funds exist within the Safety Bond Fund for this purchase.

WHEREAS, the Fire Division is in need of Genesis Rescue Tools for it's rescue fleet; and

WHEREAS, bids were solicited via the Purchasing Division as Solicitation SA002431, with Howell Rescue Systems, Inc. submitting the lowest, best, responsive and responsible bid; and

WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Department of Public Safety, Division of Fire, in that it is immediately necessary to purchase said rescue equipment for the aforementioned purpose for the preservation of the public health, peace, property, safety, and welfare; Now, Therefore,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS
