Explanation

The purpose of this ordinance is to authorize the Director of Finance & Management to enter into contract with MWH Soft, Inc. for the purchase of Water Distribution Modeling Software for the Division of Power and Water. This software will be used in the management and master planning of the water distribution system by the Water Distribution Engineering Group.

The Purchasing Office opened formal bids on May 31, 2007. One (1) bid was received. The Division of Power and Water recommends that the bid be awarded to MWH Soft, Inc., 300 N. Lake Ave., Suite 1200, Pasadena, CA 91101. The bid from MWH Soft, Inc. was the only bid received and they are a responsible and responsive bidder. The award is for two (2) Infowater Suite 4.0 and training. The total cost is $36,500.00.

Sixty-one (61) vendors were contacted electronically, of which two (2) were Minority Business Registration (MBR), three (3) were Certified Emerging MBE business (M1A) and three (3) were Certified Emerging FBE Business (F1).

Fiscal Impact: The Division of Power and Water has sufficient funds budgeted for this purchase.

No funds have been expended in 2005 or 2006 for this type of software.
