Explanation
Background:
This ordinance will authorize the Director of Recreation and Parks to enter into a contract with Builderscape for Marion Franklin and Roosevelt Park Improvements.
Two bids were received by the Recreation and Parks Department on October 2, 2007 for the Park Improvements as follows:

Services will include the installation of playground equipment and trees.
A contingency amount of $8,487.00 is being included in this project

Fiscal Impact:
$70,000.00 is budgeted in the Recreation and Parks Voted 1999/2004 Bond Fund to meet the financial obligation of this project.

To authorize the Director of Recreation and Parks to enter into contract with Builderscape for the Marion Franklin and Roosevelt Park Improvements project, and to authorize the expenditure of $70,000.00 from the Recreation and Parks Voted bond fund. ($70,000.00)

WHEREAS, bids were received by the Recreation and Parks Department on October 2, 2007 and the contract Marion Franklin and Roosevelt Parks will be awarded on the basis of the lowest and best responsive and responsible bidder; therefore
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
SECTION 1. That the Director of Recreation and Parks be and he is hereby authorized and directed to enter into contract with Builderscape for the Marion Franklin and Roosevelt Park Improvements, in accordance with plans and specifications on file in the Recreation and Parks Department.
SECTION 2. That the expenditure of $70,000.00, or so much thereof as may be necessary, be and is hereby authorized, to pay the cost thereof, as follows:
$70,000.00 Recreation and Parks Voted Bond Funds: Fund No. 702, Dept. 51-01, Project 440006, OCA Code 644526, and Object Level 3 No. 6621
SECTION 3. That for the purpose of paying for any contingencies which may occur during this project, the amount of $8,487.00 has been included in Section 2, above. This amount will be expended only after approval by the Director of the Recreation and Parks Department, certification by the City Auditor, and approval of the City Attorney.
SECTION 4. That the City Auditor is authorized to make any accounting changes to revise the funding source for all contracts or contract modifications associated with this ordinance.
SECTION 5. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
