Explanation
Background: This legislation authorizes the Public Service Director to enter into a contract for the Transportation Division with the Columbus Regional Airport Authority (CRAA) for landscape architectural design concepts for the Stelzer Road/International Gateway/I-670 corridor to reimburse CRAA up to $30,000.00. This contract will allow the City of Columbus and the CRAA to collaborate on the landscape architectural design at the Stelzer Road/International Gateway/I-670 corridor. This effort will be a precursor to additional landscaping at Stelzer Road and International Gateway, as well as a City investment in future roadway improvements to Stelzer Road. This coordination will allow for a master landscape architectural plan to be developed for the corridor. The Transportation Division will be submitting to City Council at a later date legislation for contracting preliminary engineering services for improvements to Stelzer Road/James Road from Broad Street to Johnstown Road.
Emergency action is requested so that this project can proceed in a timely manner and keep commitments made to the CRAA.
Fiscal Impact: Funds in the amount of $30,000.00 are budgeted and available in the 1995, 1999, 2004 Voted Street and Highway Fund for the Transportation Division.
