Title: To authorize the Director of the Department of Development to amend the agreement with the Northland Alliance Inc. by extending the expiration date of the agreement to June 30, 2008; and to declare an emergency.
Explanation

BACKGROUND: This legislation authorizes the Director of the Department of Development to modify contract DL013472 with Northland Alliance Inc. by extending the contract termination date from December 31, 2007 to June 30, 2008.

One of the efforts of Northland Alliance is the revitalization of the Route 161 Corridor. Since its inception in early 2001, Northland Alliance, Inc. has been cooperatively working with the city of Columbus on revitalization efforts. Currently the group is exploring the idea of creating a Special Improvement District (SID) on Route 161. Additional time is needed to allow Northland Alliance Inc. to continue the efforts in creation of a SID on Route 161.

Emergency action is requested so program activities can be continued without interruption.

FISCAL IMPACT: No additional funds are needed for this modification.

WHEREAS, the Director of the Department of Development desires to modify Contract DL013472 with Northland Alliance Inc. by extending the contract from December 31, 2007 to June 30, 2008; and

WHEREAS, this modification will allow Northland Alliance Inc. to continue to explore the possibility of creating a SID on Route 161; and

WHEREAS, no additional funds are needed to complete this agreement; and

WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Department of Development in that it is immediately necessary to amend the agreement with Northland Alliance Inc. so program activities can be continued without interruption, all for the immediate preservation of the public health, peace, property, safety and welfare; NOW THEREFORE,
