Explanation
BACKGROUND: This legislation authorizes the Director of the Department of Development to modify contract DL013445 with Morse Road Special Improvement District of Columbus, Inc. by extending the contract termination date from December 31, 2007 to June 30, 2008.
The Morse Road Special Improvement District (SID), a non-profit organization, was created in August of 2006 and went into effect in January 2007. The Morse Road SID hired a management company in mid 2007 to oversee the administration of the SID and the grass mowing. As a result of the late date of hire of the management company the Morse Road SID was unable to accomplish all of their goals by the end of the contract period, December 31, 2007. The Morse Road SID is requesting to extend the time of their contract to allow completion of their 2007 goals.
Emergency action is requested so program activities can be continued without interruption.
FISCAL IMPACT: No additional funds are needed for this modification.

To authorize the Director of the Department of Development to amend the agreement with the Morse Road Special Improvement District of Columbus, Inc. by extending the expiration date of the agreement to June 30, 2008; and to declare an emergency.

WHEREAS, the Director of the Department of Development desires to modify Contract DL013445 with the Morse Road Special Improvement District of Columbus, Inc. by extending the contract from December 31, 2007 to June 30, 2008; and
WHEREAS, this modification will allow the Morse Road Special Improvement District of Columbus, Inc. to complete its 2007 goals; and
WHEREAS, no additional funds are needed to complete this agreement; and
WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Department of Development in that it is immediately necessary to amend the agreement with the Morse Road Special Improvement District of Columbus, Inc. so program activities can be continued without interrupt...
