Title: To authorize the Finance and Management Director to make payment to Franklin County Human Resources Department for the property insurance premium for the Municipal Court building for the period of January 1, 2007 through December 31, 2007, and to declare an emergency. ($26,335.51).

Explanation

 

BACKGROUND:  This legislation authorizes the Finance and Management Director to issue a payment of $26,335.51 to the Franklin County Human Resource Department to reimburse the County for the property insurance premium for the Municipal Court building for the period of January 1, 2007 through December 31, 2007.  This reimbursement is agreed to in the City's lease with Franklin County.  The payment is coming late in the year due to necessary negotiations between the City's Real Estate Management Office and the County over the true cost of insuring the building. 

 

Emergency action is requested so that Franklin County can be reimbursed for expenses already incurred at the earliest possible date.

 

Fiscal Impact: The total cost of this payment, authorized by this ordinance, is $26,335.51. These funds are available in the Facilities Management budget. 

 

Title

 

To authorize the Finance and Management Director to make payment to Franklin County Human Resources Department for the property insurance premium for the Municipal Court building for the period of January 1, 2007 through December 31, 2007, and to declare an emergency.  ($26,335.51).

 

Body

 

WHEREAS, the Facilities Management Division has a need to issue a payment to the Franklin County Human Resources Department for the property insurance premium for the Municipal Court building, and

 

WHEREAS, after negotiation with the County, the Real Estate Management Office received an invoice from the Franklin County Human Resources Department, and

 

WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Finance and Management Department, Facilities Management Division, in that it is immediately necessary to authorize the Finance and Management Director to issue a payment of $26,335.51 to the Franklin County Human Resource Department for the property insurance premium for the Municipal Court building for the period of January 1, 2007 through December 31, 2007 for expenses already incurred, thereby preserving the public health, property, safety, and welfare; now, therefore:

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: 

 

SECTION 1.  That the Finance and Management Director is hereby authorized to issue a payment of $26,335.51 to the Franklin County Human Resources Department for the property insurance premium for the Municipal Court building for the period of January 1, 2007 through December 31, 2007.

 

SECTION 2.   That the expenditure of $26,335.51, or so much thereof that may be necessary in regard to the action authorized in SECTION 1, be and is hereby authorized and approved as follows:

SECTION 3.  That for reasons stated in the preamble hereto, which is hereby made a part hereof, this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval by the Mayor, or ten days after passage if the mayor neither approves or vetoes the same.
