Explanation
Background:
This ordinance will enable the Director of Recreation and Parks to accept a grant from the NFL/NRPA local agency in the amount of $3,000.00 and to appropriate these monies to the Recreation and Parks Private Grant Fund.
The Columbus Recreation and Parks football program provides instruction and play experiences to youth ages 6 to 14 during the summer and fall months. The program serves approximately 600 participants in the flag football, summer football camp and therapeutic football programs. The grant funds will be used to purchase supplies and equipment for the football program. The equipment will be used for individual skill development.
Emergency action is requested in order to have funding available for necessary expenditures.

WHEREAS, The NFL/NRPA local agency has awarded the City of Columbus, Recreation and Parks Department, a grant in the amount of $3,000.00 for the youth football program; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to appropriate said funds to the Recreation and Parks Department for expenditures; and
WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Recreation and Parks Department in that it is immediately necessary to accept said grant funds and appropriate said funds so that the funding is available for necessary expenditures; now, therefore
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
