Explanation

BACKGROUND:
Need: This ordinance authorizes the Director of Public Safety to enter into a modification of Contract Number #CT16625 between the City of Columbus and Kenneth W. Borror for E-911 Consulting Services, for the period of beginning July 1, 2008 through December 31, 2008 on behalf of the Division of Support Services.

Kenneth W. Borror will not be renewing a yearly contract for E-911 services with the City of Columbus and Franklin County, a position he held since the conception of E-911 in 1984; however, he has volunteered to stay in this position on a month-to-month basis, not to exceed six (6) months, until a replacement can be appointed.

This contract modification is to ensure uninterrupted coordination services for the E-911 System and for coordinating activities between all entities, such as PUCO, AT&T, the Local, State and Federal Governments, and collecting and updating information needed to maintain the E-911 System for the City of Columbus and Franklin County.

First Modification Cost (Year 1995): $22,715
Total amount of Modification #13 is: $25,000.00
Total contract amount, including this modification, is: $378,671.00
Cost Basis for the Modification: Yearly on-going E-911 Land Line and Wireless Consulting Services for the City of Columbus and Franklin County

B. Bid Information: N/A. This is a modification; MBE & FBE solicitation is not applicable.

C. Contract Compliance: Contract Compliance #298202731 Expiration: 4/4/2010

FISCAL IMPACT:

A. Budgeted Amount: Sufficient funds for this expenditure are available in the Division of Support Services' 2008 General Fund appropriation.

The Franklin County Commissioners will reimburse the City of Columbus for one half of this consulting contract.
