Title: To authorize the Director of Public Service to modify and increase an existing contract, with Dynotec, Inc, for professional services needed for the Arterial Street Rehabilitation - Fairwood Avenue/Watkins Road-Koebel Road project, for the Division of Design and Construction, to amend the 2011 C.I.B; to authorize the transfer and expenditure of $40,000.00 within the Streets and Highways G.O. Explanation

1. BACKGROUND
This ordinance authorizes the Director of Public Service to modify and increase a professional engineering services contract, with Dynotec, Inc., for the Arterial Street Rehabilitation - Fairwood Avenue/Watkins Road - Koebel Road project. This is the ninth modification to the original contract. This modification is needed to complete the design of the Arterial Street Rehabilitation - Fairwood Avenue/Watkins Road - Koebel Road project, provide assistance during the bidding process, and to attend the pre-bid and pre-construction meetings to review shop drawings and also to provide as-built drawings.

Work performed to date by the consultant for this project consisted of the provision of professional design services for the Arterial Street Rehabilitation - Fairwood Avenue/Watkins Road - Koebel Road project. Additional work under this contract consisted of work for Department of Public Utilities projects.

This modification is necessary for the Arterial Street Rehabilitation - Fairwood Avenue/Watkins Road - Koebel Road project. Ordinance 0247-2005 authorized modification number 7 to this contract in the amount of $130,000.00 for the design of the Arterial Street Rehabilitation - Fairwood Avenue/Watkins Road - Koebel Road project. Other modifications of this contract were associated with the Department of Public Utilities.

An additional engineering cost amount was originally set in the contract for this project to cover any unforeseen additional professional design services during the design and during the construction, however, plan updates were needed to bring the plans up to current standards and caused the depletion of these funds.

This modification will enable the City to use Dynotec's services to provide any services that may be needed during the bidding process and during the construction of this project. The amount of this modification is $40,000.00.
